A Seamless Aluminum Frame: A New Generation of Electric Motorcycles

Next month, a new electric motorcycle will arrive on the British market. It stands out with its fully weldless molded alloy frame, which is claimed to be nearly a third stiffer than a traditional frame.

The brand Voltdrip, specializing in electric off-road motorcycles, will launch two models in April on the UK market: the Voltdrip F80 OR and Voltdrip FX OR. One is an adventure version homologated for the road, while the other is also road-legal but specially designed for off-road use.

The monocoque frame makes the Voltdrip OR range even more robust, able to withstand falls from heights of around three meters, while maintaining a relatively low weight. The off-road version weighs 97 kg, while the road version weighs just 85 kg.

The 72-volt battery is regulated by a patented thermal immersion system, which is said to reduce the battery temperature by half during extended use. This system can also adjust the battery's temperature in cold weather, allowing the Voltdrip OR motorcycles to operate normally at temperatures as low as −40°C.

According to the information provided, the Voltdrip FX OR off-road bike requires 4 hours to go from an empty to a full battery. A single charge would allow the 12,000 W motor to propel the adventure version for up to 111 miles. The Voltdrip F80 OR, on the other hand, only requires 3 hours to recharge, allowing its 8,000 W motor to cover about 93 miles on a single charge.

The lightweight F80 OR electric bike delivers 380 N·m of torque, transmitted to the ground via a rear spoked wheel. The front wheel uses a 19-inch rim, while the rear wheel measures 16 inches. In the market, finding a lightweight, road-legal electric off-road bike is more difficult than it seems, and the Voltdrip F80 OR appears to be an ideal solution.

The Voltdrip OR models reach a top speed of about 62 mph. The front brake is equipped with a 230 mm disc, while the rear brake uses a 203 mm disc.

Details of the Voltdrip FX OR Electric Motorcycle Model
The Voltdrip FX OR is equipped with one of the most advanced batteries currently available on the market.

Its magnesium alloy casing houses 21700 automotive-grade ternary lithium-ion cells, an advanced battery management system (BMS) with CAN communication, a patented auxiliary heating system, and a unique fireproof oil cooling system.

This technology greatly enhances battery stability and overall performance, allowing for faster and longer rides. The battery's operating temperature range extends from −40°C to +60°C, while also providing faster and more efficient charging.

The frame is made using a monocoque weldless process. It uses a unique magnesium-aluminum alloy called Magnarium, an aerospace-grade material that is highly resistant and premium. Compared to traditional manufacturing methods, this technology increases the frame's rigidity by about 30%.

This complex structure is molded without welding, achieving an ideal combination of lightness and stiffness, which significantly improves the bike's handling and durability. Combined with a rear swingarm made using the same process, the Voltdrip FX OR achieves an almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear.
